Apple's New A5X Chip May Be for iPad Only, Analysts Say

Apple delivered a performance breakthrough Wednesday with its new A5X processor for the iPad,but it's possible that this chip won't make its way into the next iPhone, analysts said.
The chips used in the first two iPads, the A4 and A5, both made their way into a new iPhone soon after. But the A5X, with its heavy focus on graphics, may not be ideal for smartphone use, and Apple may wait for a more power-efficient chip built with a new manufacturing process.

Wu believes that the 4G connectivity -- based on the LTE (long-term evolution) standard -- will be the most significant of the new features, differentiating it from many Android-based tablets and the Kindle Fire.

IPad 3: Predictions and Challenges From iFixit

Kyle Wiens of iFixit, a Web site that provides free repair manuals and advice forums, has been a reliable prognosticator of everything Apple. With the next iPad expected to come out in March, Wiens recently gazed into his crystal ball.
On the eve of other major Apple unveilings, Wiens rightly predicted that the iPhone 4S would not run on 4G networks because the 4G chipsets were woefully power-inefficient. He predicted that the iPad 2 would have more RAM and a dual-core chip, but not higher resolution.

How to Hack an iPad

Most iPad and iPhone owners rely on their Apple ID password to prevent access to their account details. This won't stop a hacker gaining access to your personal account and log in details. Here's how to hack an iPad. Whenever you want to change a setting on an iPad or iPhone, aside from non-critical items such as the alarm clock time or the volume, Apple prompts you to enter your Apple ID. Ideally, there will be a four-digit PIN code preventing anyone who isn't you being able to get as far as the settings menu, but not all of us are that careful.
Here's why you really should pay much more heed to controlling access.
Go to the App Store and click on an item to download. Assuming it costs anything at all to purchase, you'll be prompted to enter the password for your Apple account. Do so, and then wait for the app to

Two Years of Apple's iPad: Happy Second Birthday, Innovative Tablet!

Two years ago Friday, Apple's late co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPad, one of the most anticipated Apple products in history."There hasn't been this much hype about a tablet since Moses came down from the mountain," Jobs said quoting an earlier New York Times article. Speculation over Apple's touch tablet had been circulating for months, and the as-yet-unseen product was predicted to be the saviour of all things print--including books, newspapers, and magazines.
When the Apple slate finally went on sale in the U.S. in April 2010, it quickly won over fans nationwide selling 300,000 units within the first 24 hours. Competitors followed with competing tablets including the Android-based Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab, HP's TouchPad, and the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Notebook App Adds iPad, Dropbox Capabilities

Appigo has relaunched its Notebook iOS app, expanding the note-taking tool from an iPhone-only offering into one that also works on the iPad. The updated app can also sync its documents among multiple other devices. Notebook 2.0 arrived this week in the App Store. In addition to its new status as universal app that works on all of Apple's mobile devices, the note-taking app also now offers Dropbox syncing--allowing users to recover their notes as .txt files from their personal computer.
Notebook is otherwise a basic affair--as its own developers have observed, the app doesn't offer text-editing layout, or formatting capabilities. But it does have a "data detection" feature that creates phone numbers, websites, email addresses, and calendar events.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Receive First Untethered Jailbreak

Good news for wannabe iPhone jailbreakers: The Chronic Dev Team and pod2g have finally released the first untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
"But wait," you ask. "Haven't we been able to jailbreak these devices for months now?"
No. Don't confuse iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreaking with iOS 5 jailbreaking – apples and oranges, thanks to the inclusion of Apple's new dual-core A5 processor in these two devices. Prior to yesterday's release of the "Absinthe A5" jailbreak, there has been no
